Lords Reception

On Thursday 18 May members from the Reigatian Community attended a Lords Reception on a typically wet British evening! Our huge thanks go to David Hyner, RGS Parent and Brooks Macdonald Director for his support with the event.

The purpose of the evening was to bring the Reigatian Community together for a social occasion within the surroundings of an iconic sporting venue. Brooks Macdonald were our hosts for the evening and have been closely connected with the RGS Foundation for a number of years. The connection runs even deeper as it was a former pupil, Adam Temple (’01), that was our main speaker for the night. Adam provided an insightful snapshot of the current world markets and spoke of the main economic and political factors which have been the drivers to this current state of play. Congratulations also go to Adam as he recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary at BM, rising through the ranks to become Senior Investment Director.

After the short talk, guests were then treated to a whistle stop tour of the historic ground that included the futuristic Media Centre and MCC Museum (featuring the original Ashes urn) from the very passionate guides that both possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of Lords cricketing history. Finally, returning back to the splendid Writing Room (so called as it used be a haven for the business men that wanted to come and watch cricket but still had work to do!) guests were treated to some quintessentially English refreshments with the opportunity to socialise with each other.
