RGS Remembrance Service 2020

11th November 2020 @ 10:45 am - 11:05 am

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s Service of Remembrance was unable to take place in the normal way, however, we are honoured to be able to share the RGS Remembrance Service 2020 with you virtually. You can watch a short highlight here.

Students will watch the pre-recorded service from their classrooms and we invite you to join them; to come together as one Reigatian community to remember the sacrifice of Armed Forces personnel from Britain and the Commonwealth.

The service is led by School Chaplain, Reverend Phil Jackson, and we are delighted to have Surgeon Captain Sarah Stapley (RGS 1983-1984) of the Royal Navy as our Reigatian community representative. The ceremony follows the traditional order of service, taking in the school’s three war memorials, with readings, poems, a blessing, a hymn from the school’s polyphony choir and the Corp of Drums.

The full version will be premiered on YouTube at 10.45 on Wednesday 11 November 2020. The premiere officially starts at 10.45am, but there will be a two-minute YouTube countdown followed by our own three-minute-30-second countdown so that the two-minute silence falls at exactly 11am. Please do access the video in plenty of time.

Our hope is that more of you will be able to join us virtually, where geography or mobility may have prevented you in the past. We would welcome your feedback.
