Golden Anniversary – Class of 1967
On Tuesday 27 June 2017, RGS welcomed back 16 Old Reigatians from the class of 1967 and their partners to celebrate their Golden Anniversary since leaving RGS. Some had made return visits since leaving but for many this was their first trip back to RGS in fifty years.
The morning began with refreshments in the Wright Gallery followed by tours of the school with our current Head Boy and Head Girl alongside the RGS Foundation Student Ambassadors. Guests reminisced on their time at RGS, recalling classes and teachers as well as seeing how the campus and facilities have expanded and improved over the years. The tours ended at the garden of the Headmaster’s house, 1 Chart Lane, where lunch was enjoyed despite the (somewhat) wet weather!
Photographs from the archives and those supplied by ORs were displayed for all to enjoy during the lunch reception. Much time was spent looking through all the photographs and trying to recall names and anecdotes from years gone by.
The afternoon was rounded off with a Living History session which involved fourth form history students talking with guests about life at RGS now and then. The students helped to serve tea in the garden and thoroughly enjoyed hearing stories about life at RGS fifty years ago.
