Privacy Notice

This Statement sets out how the Foundation and School uses and protects any information that we collect about you. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain personal information please be assured that it will only be used in accordance with the Foundation and School’s Privacy Notice, which may be updated from time to time.

RGS Foundation Data Protection & Privacy Notice Disclaimer: The RGS Foundation holds all Reigatian community information in accordance with the General Data Protection Act 2018. Your personal information will not be supplied to any third party, unless they are employed by us to provide a specific service, e.g. printing, mailing or data cleansing. The RGS Foundation may use your data for charitable purposes in the future, and to update you on RGS Foundation news and events. If you have any queries or would like to amend your preferences then please inform us by emailing foundation@www.rgs.foundation.

RGS Foundation mailing preferences: The majority of our communications are sent out by email, so please have a look through the various communication breakdowns before unsubscribing to ensure that you don’t miss out on anything.

  • E-Reigatian: This bi-monthly email newsletter provides a general update on news from both the RGS Foundation and the School.
**Removing yourself from this will only remove you from the E-Reigatian emails**
  • RGS Professionals: These are emails specifically targeted at the RGS Professionals group, which will include invitations and information for upcoming RGSP events.
**Removing yourself from this group will essentially remove you from the RGSP group**
  • Fundraising emails: These will be related to a specific fundraising campaign (e.g. Giving Day). If you remove yourself from these emails you will only be removed from that particular campaign. You will remain on the general mailing list unless you specifically request otherwise.
  • Targeted emails: These might include a notification of a significant event or death, invitations to class-specific reunions, or a request to correspond with a former classmate.

The Foundation may collect and process the following information about you:

  • Information provided voluntarily by you, for example when you register an enquiry, order tickets for events, order merchandise items or make a donation
  • Information that you provide when you communicate with us by any means

What we do with the information we gather

The data that we collect, or provided by you, is used by the RGS Foundation to give relevant information about Reigatian community activities, including reunions and other events, careers support for current students, fundraising work in support of the Changing Lives campaign and for general administrative purposes.

SECURITY

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. We store all the personal information you provide, on our secure password and firewall protected servers. We retain personal information for legitimate purposes and as long as necessary or required by law. Please see the School’s Retention Policy for more detail.

N.B. Data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our website may occasionally offer links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

HOW WE USE COOKIES

A cookie, also known as a browser cookie or web cookie, is usually a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s web browser. They are used by us to help our visitors navigate the School website efficiently and perform certain functions. Due to their core role of enhancing or enabling usability or site processes, disabling cookies may prevent users from using certain parts of this website.

The Foundation and School websites use Google Analytics, a service that generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. It is the most widely used website statistics service.

To gather statistical information, Google Analytics use ‘performance cookies’. These cookies collect anonymous information about how visitors use websites, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, whether they have been to the site before and how long they remain on each page.

These cookies do not collect personal data. The information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous and only used to improve how a website works.

DISABLING COOKIES

Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third-party cookies. For example, in Internet Explorer you can refuse all cookies by clicking Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, and selecting Block all cookies using the sliding selector. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites, including this one.
