Run Reigate celebrates 10 years

Now in its tenth year, Run Reigate hosted yet another fantastic community event in Priory Park. With a sunny start to the day, in the backdrop of Reigate Priory School, runners gathered ready for the starting klaxon. First off were the half marathon runners, followed by the 10k and lastly the 5k. Scenic views of Reigate were taken in as everyone made their way round their route, cheered on towards the finish line, by Reigatians at RGS water stations along the way. With ruddy faces and shining medals, our Reigatians made their way to see us at the Reigate Grammar School stall, proudly showing off their achievement and posing for a picture. Located at the RGS stall, were staff from Marketing and RGS Foundation including Foundation Ambassador, Matthew H, on hand to answer questions about open morning, chat about the races and promote the free-to-enter raffle to win a Gilbert netball, rugby ball and selection of RGS merchandise. We had water bottles and sweets to give away to those that stopped by to say hello, whilst our RGS horsebox gave away flapjacks, chocolate brownies and fruit juice courtesy of Chartwells. Headmaster Shaun Fenton came along to wish our runners well and chat with Reigatians. The kids races started, and we could hear cheers as year groups one through to seven each set off for their own race, charging through the finish line before the rain set in for the afternoon.

Special mention goes to Lara G, who ran an amazing 5k in 21m 42s, and was the third female over the line overall for that race and first in the U15 category. Other Reigatians crossing the 5k finish line were Harry K (RGS Student), Georgie Shaylor (RGS Staff), Vicky Papadopoulou (RGS Staff), Nick Spilling (RGS Parent) and son Isaac and Shaney Shephard (RGS Staff). We had two 10k finishers Martin Hetherington (RGS Staff) and half marathon runner, Nick Tennant (RGS Staff). Our runners were all tremendous and a huge thank you for supporting RGS Foundation.
