A Dam good time with Reigatians

RGS Amsterdam Gathering – 15 March 2024

The venue of the first RGS Gathering in Amsterdam, was the historic De Blauwe Parade, a traditional Amsterdam Bar (established in 1585) featuring old wooden panel walls, candlelit tables and the world’s largest delft blue tile tableau.

We were delighted to welcome a large number of Reigatians to the evening, with guests making the journey from a variety of destinations including Switzerland, The Hague, Rotterdam and some from a leisurely five-minute walk away. RGS Headmaster, Shaun Fenton and Jonny Hylton, RGS Foundation Director, hosted the evening, sharing updates of RGS and its ever-growing family of schools, the launch of the decade of philanthropy via the new Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign and the exciting plans for the 350 anniversary of RGS in 2025.

Stories and laughter flowed as guests regaled tales of their time at RGS: from teachers who inspired them, to memorable trips with old school friends – a fabulous evening was had by all.

With international barriers being broken down across the world, Reigatians are just as likely to work in Hong Kong as Horsham, making our connected global Reigatian community ever more important in a fragmented society. Wherever you are in the world, either living there or passing through, there is a fairly good chance that you could be across the road from a fellow Reigatian, so make sure you keep us updated so that we can connect you with others who could be just across the street from you!

Our thanks go to Guy Bessant (RGS ’92) and Alex Dalley (RGS ’95) for their support and advice in helping arrange this wonderful RGS Amsterdam Gathering.
