Henry Smith Club Dinner
2nd May 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
The Henry Smith Club is our principal philanthropic society in support of the RGS Foundation’s Changing Lives Campaign. It raises funds for bursaries for talented children whose potential is greater than their financial means. The dinner is held every year to say thank you to members of the Henry Smith Club for their support.
Reigate Grammar School was founded in 1675 from a philanthropic gift from Henry Smith, a merchant and alderman of the City of London, to educate the poor in Reigate and its environs. Henry’s wife was from Surrey. The Changing Lives Campaign builds on this heritage and reflects the values of our founder.
The dinner will be hosted by former pupil Sir Peter Gershon, Chairman of National Grid plc, and President of the Henry Smith Club. His special guest for the evening will be his former classmate: Sir Peter Lampl, the UK’s leading educational philanthropist and Founder of the Sutton Trust.
We can look forward to an amazing meal at a first-class restaurant thanks to John Turner (current RGS parent) who, as owner of Roast, has provided the Henry Smith Club with an exceptional venue.
