Brooks Macdonald was established in 1991 and has been a member of the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) since 2005. BM manage £10.5bn on behalf of their clients, which includes private investors, trusts, charities, pension funds and institutions.

The Brooks Macdonald Insight day is a one-day course, perfect for a recent graduate or University aged former RGS pupil, designed to introduce you to the different areas of their business in order to help you make the right career choice. They will also give you the opportunity to develop your overall communication, networking and business skills.

A series of speakers will run you through the history of Brooks Macdonald and what they do, the challenges and opportunities for the Industry as well as the key skills of networking and building connections. You’ll also get a chance to look around their office, meet with staff and get a taste of what it’s really like to work at Brooks Macdonald.

• Welcome to BM
An introduction to Brooks Macdonald. You’ll learn about their history and story so far.

• Company Overview
There are 5 branches to the BM group- Asset Management, Financial Consulting, Funds, Estates, Investment Services and BM International.

• Challenges/Opportunities for the Industry
They’ll inform you about some of the key challenges that you may face starting out in the industry but you’ll also learn about all the career options that can be offered across the group and the roles within the organisation.

• Careers Fair
Meet with key individuals from around the business who will give you an insight into each area they work in. They’ll give you in depth information on different roles within their departments and what steps you should take to kick start your career in their chosen sector.

• Lunch with Trainees
Here you will have the opportunity to network with trainees from asset management, new business development and financial consulting and get to find out what it’s really like working in professional services. You’ll get the chance to chat to them about qualifications, study, work and the realities of transitioning into the workplace.

• A Week in the Life of a Brooks Macdonald Investment Manager
Here you will get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to be in Investment Manager, from an Investment Manager!

• How we Manage Money
An Investment Directors will give you an insight into the process of managing client’s money and will lead you through an interactive investment exercise.

• Networking
Here you will learn key skills on how to network and build connections, and then get the opportunity to practice these with your fellow attendees
