Seats of Learning Music Recital

On Thursday 20 June, we were delighted to welcome to school sponsors of our Seats of Learning.

The Seats of Learning initiative is designed to help provide life-changing opportunities for talented children through the sponsorship of chairs in the refurbished Old Library. We are grateful to all those in our community who have collectively helped us to raise funds for bursaries through this initiative and it was a delight to ‘show off’ our students’ talents to them in the recital.

Thursday’s recital gave us a wonderful opportunity to thank our sponsors and give them the opportunity to come and see the chairs as they are used every day in the Old Library. Many chairs are sponsored in memory of a loved one and it was lovely to welcome these families to the school.

“I can’t tell you how much my daughter, son-in-law and I enjoyed the recital today. It brought tears to my eyes to hear how professional all the musicians are and especially to know that Laurie had probably spent sometime in that very room so many years ago too. He would have loved the recital too as he was a great music lover.”

Performances covered a range of tastes and students from across all forms performed.

The programme:

Callum – Mozart Horn Concerto In Eb
Finlay – Rodney Bennett Samba
Yerin Heo and Seoyuon Choi – Bach Double Concerto movement
Matty – Chopin Etude G flat
Quartet – Borodin Notturno
Edie – Over The Rainbow
Alex, Ellie, Finlay – Summertime arrangement

Our audience was impressed and delighted with the exceptionally high quality of performance delivered.
